I have had to write a record containing some tables and use this for table calculation, gnuplot and latex. So I decided to create a Open Office spreadsheets, export to csv and then convert this file to a Latex includable snippet. Thus a small bash shell script converting csv-files to Latex was needed.

Today I want to give some hints at creating a working backup of a typo3 installation.
Installing an additional typo3 extension can obviously be a good possibility if you have to backup just one or two setups. There seem to be a few really handy ones. But in my case this would be very ineffective. First, you have to install another extension for every running typo3. Then doing the saving stuff on console can have some advantages like cron tabbing etc. That is why I decided to do it “by hand”.

Last night I had to connect to an Cisco VPN server for the first time. All my computers use 64 bit operating systems. And this fact excludes using the original Cisco VPN client in its actual 5.0.01 version: It supports 32 bit only.
So I will show how to install and use the VPNC on the example connecting to the HTW Dresden.

Bereits zum 6. Mal fand dieses Jahr der Linux Info Tag an der TU Dresden statt. Immer Anfang November deckt diese liebevoll organisierte Veranstaltung mit zahlreichen Vorträgen und Workshops gekonnt die doch so verschiedenen Interessenprofile von Einsteigern bis zu Fortschrittenen ab.

There are several goals why upgrading from PLESK 7.5.2 to 8.4. In my case the most important were the native PHP5 and MySQL 5 support. The migration manager in the new PLESK version does almost all the work easy and intuitive for you. But only almost all because there are several issues.
